　それから３ヵ月後、真奈美から一通の手紙が届いた



「ふーん。うまくいってるんだな。お前もよくやるよな・・・」

シャープはあいも変わらず口が悪い。

「まあ、うまくやってやるさ！」

二人して大笑いして話が盛り上がってきた時のことだった・・・

突然、店のジュークボックスから聞き覚えのあるメロディが流れてきた・・・・

「あ、あのう・・・来てしまいました」

なんと、真奈美が来たのであった。

「手紙ありがとう。でも、なんでこっちに来たの？こっちから行くのに・・・・」


真奈美に対して問うと彼女は顔を赤らめながら答えた

「と、とにかく・・・あ、あなたに逢いたかったから・・・・」



正直、俺は嬉しかった・・・でも、「答え」を彼女に告げる勇気は無い・・・・


「ありがとう。来てくれて。俺も絶対そっちに行くから。さあ、立川まで送っていくよ。」


真奈美をカタナに乗せて走り出す。

滑走路に日が沈む中、ちょうど飛び立つＣ-130と競争するかの如く走る。
